I have been in the field of teaching communicative skills in English for over two and a half decades now. It has been both a pleasure and a learning experience. Having trained more than 75 thousand students in my career so far, I have gained great insight into not only what to teach but also what not to teach.
Imparting communicative skills in English is different from teaching English as a subject. Here in Veta, we train people to speak English. Based on my experience, I, with my team of R and D, have evolved the study material, which is the strength of Veta’s methodology.
Veta’s study material addresses the problems of non-native learners. It takes into account the way mother tongue idiom in thinking hinders the acquiring of communicative skills in English.
The heart of the study material is the SGF or the Speech Generating Formula. Based on core word clusters and frequently appearing sentence patterns, the SGF trains the learners to pick up English quickly and effectively.
The first step of the Veta’s Fluent English Programme is unique in the sense the vernacular is used to explain the way English works. This bi-lingual method has been very effective in removing the notion that English is difficult to learn. The transition to total English is smooth and seamless.
Veta also employs several multi-media components in making its trainees acquire communicative English in a way that is entertaining and effective.
Special language lab sessions enable the learners to acquire correct pronunciation. Saturday clubs offer a good platform to all former students to keep in touch with Veta and further hone their communicative skills in English.
The classroom ambience is learner-friendly. To put it shortly, Veta offers courses that are tailor-made to every learner.
The aim of every trainer at Veta is to fulfil Veta’s mission statement: Anyone who walks into Veta walks out speaking fluent English.
Ask any of our 2.2 million students what Veta has meant to them and you will understand what we have been doing over the decades.
